Collection: Newfoundland Provincial Tartan
Tartans were brought to Canada by Scottish settlers. Each province and territory, as well as other regions of the country have adopted tartans, that are are officially recognized and registered in the books of the Court of the Lord Lyon, King of Arms of Scotland.
The Newfoundland tartan, designed by a local Newfoundlander in 1955 and inspired by the province's official anthem, Ode to Newfoundland. The green represents the pine forest; the white, snow; the yellow, sun; brown, the Iron Isle; and the red, the Royal Standard.
